Oconomowoc Public Library
Branding Project
The Oconomowoc Public Library
is a home for books, movies, music, games, clubs, events and programs for people of all ages. As a cornerstone of the city’s community, it deserves an identity that matches the bright vibrance of the institution.
When designing
the library’s new logos and branding, there were a lot of factors that had to be considered. The branding had to fit in with the image of the library—a playful place of learning, open for all to learn at. From the iconic griffon statues that have stood guard at the doors for years, to the yearly reading programs with their eclectic themes, and even the city’s modernizing styles and environment, the logos and styles should keep it in mind.
I wanted to make a design that kept the feel of the library; one that the playful murals and colorful summer decorations would fit in. When designing, I kept in mind the library’s position as a place of education and entertainment.
Some preliminary sketches to get the feel of the shapes and ideas I was thinking of.
Sketching the library, inside and out, and figuring out the space.
Playing with different styles of signs and comparing.
